Seminal figure in the gaming industry, Stanley Ho, who played a pivotal role in making Macau surpass Las Vegas in gaming revenue, has passed away at the age of 95.

Dying at the age of 95, the billionaire casino magnate who catalyzed Macau's meteoric rise beyond Las Vegas in gambling revenue passes away.

In a significant development, Lui Che Woo, the charismatic chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, passed away on November 7 at the age of 95. Known for his vision, tremendous leadership, and guidance, Lui Che Woo played a pivotal role in the success of the company.

Lui Che Woo, a prominent real estate and casino mogul, made his initial fortune in quarry mining and construction through the Hong Kong-listed K. Wah Group. His contributions to Galaxy Entertainment, one of the six Macau gambling license holders, were instrumental in Macau's rise as a global gambling hub. In 2006, Macau surpassed Las Vegas as the world's biggest gambling hub and has maintained this position since.

The passing of Lui Che Woo won't affect the operations of Galaxy Entertainment, according to the company. Francis Lui Yiu Tung, the current chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, confirmed this. Francis Lui, the son of Lui Che Woo, is the deputy chairman of the company and leads many projects within Galaxy Entertainment.

Francis Lui remains the chairman of Galaxy Entertainment following Lui Che Woo, and no new chairman has been publicly named at this time. However, Galaxy Entertainment announced that it will appoint a new chairman in due course.

Galaxy Entertainment owns more real estate on the Cotai Strip, a location in Macau, than any other concessionaire. The Cotai Strip, with its luxurious resorts and casinos, has been a significant contributor to Macau's success as a global gambling hub.

Lui Che Woo was known for being understated and often wore a flat cap. Despite his low-key demeanor, his impact on the gambling industry and Macau's economy was substantial. His children, including Francis Lui, are involved in various aspects of the family's business interests globally.

As we remember Lui Che Woo and his contributions to Galaxy Entertainment and Macau, we look forward to the company's continued success under the leadership of Francis Lui.

Lui Che Woo's contributions extended beyond Galaxy Entertainment, significantly impacting Macau's transformation into a global hotspot for casino-and-gambling, with casino-games flourishing in venues such as the luxurious resorts on the Cotai Strip. Las Vegas, once the world's leading gambling hub, now finds itself in the shadow of Macau's casino-culture, forged in part by Lui Che Woo's vision and leadership.
